Inside Line Promotions - ODESSA, Texas (Aug. 20, 2013) - After stints at Knoxville Raceway and Southern Iowa Speedway, Josh Baughman is excited to return to a smaller track this weekend.
Baughman is set to tackle a pair of ASCS Gulf South Region events - Friday at Heart O'Texas Speedway in Waco, Texas, and Saturday at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas.
"This weekend we've got to get the monkey off our back," he said. "The goal is to try to finish a race and get a good finish. As far as regions go, that's one of the best in the country. The ASCS Gulf South is tough and they run a good program."
In his first full season competing with a 360ci engine, Baughman has competed at Heart O'Texas Speedway once.
"The last time I was there we started last in the heat race and we were up to second in the second or third lap and I twisted a u-joint off," he said. "It tore it all up. We were fast."
Baughman has raced at Devil's Bowl Speedway three times this season with a best finish of 11th on May 18. However, in his last appearance at the half-mile track, Baughman crashed on the opening lap of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Sizzlin' Summer Speedweek event.
"We came in the first turn and jumped the cushion and went flipping through the grass and destroyed a car," he said. "So we're definitely looking for a better ending."
