Inside Line Promotions – ODESSA, Texas (Nov. 12, 2013) – Josh Baughman used this season as a learning experience and he is bound to capitalize on the valuable lessons he gained during his first full season in a 360ci sprint car.
“There were a bunch of highs and lows,” he said. “Mainly just being in the seat full time in my first full season in a 360 car was great. We had some good runs. I know we’re still learning a lot.”
Baughman picked up one feature victory – a 305ci event at Abilene Speedway in Abilene, Texas, on Oct. 19.
“I expect myself when I run a 305 to be in the top three,” he said. “That race was the only win of the year so it’d have to be the highlight of the year, but it was a 305 race.”
Baughman recognized an ASCS Gulf South Region event at Battleground Speedway in Highlands, Texas, on May 4 as his top performance.
“About half of the top 10 ASCS National guys were there,” he said. “We ran second for about 15 laps and I think we ended up sixth. Everything just worked. That was our best night of the year.”
Baughman said his plan for next season is to race in more marquee events and put the lessons he learned this season to use.
“I’m going to lessen my schedule up and put more time into the races I run,” he said. “The second full season in a 360 I feel we should at least win a regional race. Going into 2014 I’m changing my program a lot. There are big changes coming with different help coming on board, which I think is going to help us grow at the track.”
