Inside Line Promotions – ODESSA, Texas (Jan. 7, 2014) – Josh Baughman is ready for the next challenge, which will take him into uncharted territory.
Baughman will compete in a midget for the first time next week during the 28th annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals presented by General Tire at Tulsa Expo Raceway in Tulsa, Okla., Jan. 14-18. Driving for Andrew Felker, Baughman will compete against approximately 300 of the top drivers in the country.
“I’ve driven mini sprints and micros, but I’ve never been in a midget,” he said. “It’s just one of those things as a dirt track driver you always want to do. The Felkers had a car available and I jumped on it. It’s just one of those things you want to knock off your list.”
Baughman will utilize time during the practice night next Monday before his preliminary night of action on the bullring.
“I’m kinda going into this blind, but we’ll see how it goes,” he said. “We’ll take those two practice sessions and use them wisely and try to learn some things.”
The goal is simple.
“Basically to not tear anything up,” Baughman said. “We’ll try to stay out of trouble and pass cars. A heat race win or something would be great.”
