Inside Line Promotions – ROCKY MOUNT, Mo. (March 11, 2014) – After spending the past couple of weeks going over notes from his season-opening performance in Florida last month, Josh Baughman is ready to apply the lessons he learned.
Baughman is set to compete in his Jason Johnson Racing entry on Friday at Golden Triangle Raceway Park in Beaumont, Texas, and on Saturday at Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas, with the ASCS Gulf South Region.
“We’re going to take everything we learned in Florida,” he said. “Consistency is key. We’ve got to be consistent every time we pull into a track.”
Last year at Golden Triangle Raceway Park, Baughman charged from seventh to a runner-up finish in a B Main before maneuvering from 19th to 12th in the main event with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour. He also scored a 10th-place finish during an ASCS Gulf South Region event at the track.
“Golden Triangle is a short, paperclip track,” he said. “I have a good feeling going into this weekend. I’m feeling really confident.”
Saturday will mark only the second time Baughman has competed at Royal Purple Raceway. He placed 16th with the ASCS Gulf South last year.
“It’s a fun, 3/8-mile track,” he said. “Baytown has a huge crowd and good fans that support it. Rolling into a place like that, and especially having a team like we have on our side, it’s a confidence booster.”
