Inside Line Promotions – MESQUITE, Texas (June 17, 2014) – Josh Baughman returned to his rhythm last weekend and it happened at a great time.

Baughman accomplished his goals of making the main events, completing all of the laps and scoring top 10s during a pair of races in Texas last weekend.

“So far everything is going real smooth for us,” he said. “Our goal is to finish the races and get top 10s and that’s what we did. I hope we continue on as it is.”

The action kicked off last Friday with Baughman’s debut at Timberline Speedway in Corley, with the ASCS Lone Star Region.

“It was a pretty fun place,” he said. “It was a wide track.”

After maneuvering from fifth to third place in his heat race, Baughman earned enough points to advance into the feature redraw. He pulled the No. 6 in the random draw to line up on the outside of the third row for the main event.

“The car got better as the race went on,” he said. “Once I got comfortable I started passing cars. We loaded it up in one piece with a top 10 so it was a good night.”

After initially falling back to 12th, Baughman rallied to record the eighth-place result.

Baughman and his Jason Johnson Racing team capped the weekend on Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway for the opening night of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour’s Bob Westphal Memorial Cup Speedweek.

“We drew the last pill in the bucket and that put us at the back of our heat race,” he said. “We knew we had to get to fifth to make the show.”

Baughman did just that by rallying from ninth to fifth place in his heat race. That started him on the outside of the sixth row for the feature.

“We went from 12th up to eighth right away, but then I made a mistake in turns three and four and jumped the curb,” he said. “Johnny (Herrera) and Brad (Loyet) got by me. Everybody was up around the curb. You had to take what you could get early on.”

Baughman maintained a top 10 throughout the race and he finished with a 10th-place result, which marked his seventh top 10 of the season.

“The confidence is high,” he said. “We made a couple of changes to the car this week and we’ll see what we can do.”

Baughman will resume the Bob Westphal Memorial Cup Speedweek on Wednesday at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla. The other Speedweek races are Thursday at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla.; Friday at Outlaw Motorsports Park in Wainwright, Okla.; and Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo.

He will wrap up the weekend on Sunday at Double X Speedway in California, Mo.
