Inside Line Promotions – PARK CITY, Kan. (July 1, 2014) – Josh Baughman pieced together one of his most consistent weekends of the season last Saturday and Sunday in Kansas.

Baughman recorded two top 10s during the NCRA and ASCS Sooner Region co-sanctioned doubleheader, including his second top five of the season on Sunday at 81 Speedway.

“We had one of the best weekends we’ve had all year,” he said. “I’m real happy with where we’re at this part of the season. We’re really pleased going into the rest of the season. From where we started we’re 10 times better than last year.”

Baughman had a solid night from start to finish at 81 Speedway, where he ended second in his heat race. That lined him up on the inside of the third row for the main event.

After powering into third place on the opening lap, Baughman spent most of the race competing for a spot on the podium. However, he lost a couple of positions in the closing laps and settled for a fifth-place result.

“Tony Bruce Jr. and Jeremy Campbell got by us the last couple of laps,” he said. “I’m happy with a top five.”

The weekend opened with the Steve King Memorial on Saturday at Dodge City Raceway Park in Dodge City, where Baughman advanced from sixth to fourth place in his heat race. That started him on the outside of the fourth row for the main event.

“Saturday at Dodge City it was get in line and follow each other,” he said. “There wasn’t a lot of passing. It was 25 laps of qualifying basically. We stayed where we started.”

Baughman ended with an eighth-place finish.

His team will take this weekend off before an ASCS Lone Star Region doubleheader July 11 at Lubbock Speedway in Lubbock, Texas, and July 12 at Abilene Speedway in Abilene, Texas.
