Inside Line Promotions – MESQUITE, Texas (Oct. 22, 2014) – Josh Baughman is rolling into the 27th annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals Presented by Hoosier Tires seeking a solid balance to his Jason Johnson Racing entry.

Baughman will race Wednesday through Saturday at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., during the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour’s $15,000-to-win event.

“We’ve kinda lost our balance the last couple of weeks,” he said. “We’ve had some pretty good nights on short tracks this season so hopefully we’ll put together a solid weekend.”

Baughman made his debut at the famed event, which features dozens of the top drivers in the country, last season.

“We aren’t going to change our approach,” he said. “We’ve raced against the best drivers plenty of times. This team is growing and getting better and learning each week.”

Baughman is coming off an up-and-down weekend during the 41st annual Winter Nationals at Devil’s Bowl Speedway.

A high pill draw bit him on Friday at the half-mile track, where he finished seventh in his heat race after starting on the outside of the fourth row. Baughman then ended ninth in a B Main.

“All weekend we weren’t balanced,” he said. “The draw definitely didn’t help us, but we should have been able to have a better night.”

The weekend concluded on Saturday with Baughman finishing second in a heat race, which locked him into the main event. He then advanced from 16th to 12th in the feature on the one-lane track.

“I was up to 10th for a little bit, but I lost a couple spots at the end,” he said. “We’ll take a 12th place and head to Little Rock.”
