Inside Line Promotions – QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. (March 8, 2016) – Josh Baughman tied his career-best World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series result last Sunday at Arizona Speedway during the NAPA Desert Shootout.

Baughman rallied from last to post a 15th-place finish, which tied his top result earned in 2012, and he garnered the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.

“All night we were working together trying to get comfortable,” he said. “We hadn’t found our balance yet. Wayne (Priddy) and the guys did a great job with the car.”

The night began with Baughman qualifying 23rd quickest. He then finished eighth in a heat race before capturing the sixth-and-final transfer from the Last Chance Showdown.

“In the B Main we found something we could race with,” he said. “I did a better job hitting my marks in the feature. We passed most of the cars on the top and just stayed consistent around the top.”

Baughman’s 15th-place finish was his best of the season and followed a sour FVP Outlaw Showdown doubleheader last Thursday and Friday at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas in Las Vegas.

“We want to forget about Las Vegas,” he said. “The whole trip was definitely a work in progress. We had more part failures and we had some issues that popped up that we normally don’t have. Getting behind the eight ball with those guys, it’s hard to rebound.”

Baughman qualified 34th quickest, finished ninth in a heat race and 14th in the Last Chance Showdown on Thursday before slightly improving his results on Saturday when he placed 35th in qualifying, eighth in a heat race and 10th in the Last Chance Showdown.

“Luckily we ended on a good note in Arizona,” he said. “That gives us something to work on.”

Baughman is slated to kick off his bid for the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour championship with the season-opening doubleheader this Friday and Saturday at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla., for the Sooner State Showdown.

“I’m pretty excited getting in a 360 after being with the Outlaws to start the season,” he said. “We got a chance to work the kinks out and get in a rhythm. We’re leaps and bounds ahead of where we’d be if we opened this weekend.”
