Inside Line Promotions – CONCORD, N.C. (Nov. 7, 2017) – Although Josh Baughman wasn’t fond of his results last weekend during his debut at The Dirt Track at Charlotte for the Textron Off Road World Finals, he likes the direction his team is headed.

“Charlotte was cool,” he said. “The track is a different shape. It wasn’t a bad weekend, but we didn’t have a good weekend. It’s not the way you want to finish the year, but it gives us something we can work on and shows us where we need to spend our time.”

Baughman kicked off the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series event on Thursday when he qualified 17th quickest in his group for Friday’s show and 18th quickest in his group for Saturday’s program.

“Qualifying is everything,” he said. “If you look at our times we’re a tenth or hundredth out of a good starting spot. Those hundredths mean everything.”

Baughman ended seventh in a heat race and fifth in the C Main on Friday before he placed sixth in a heat race and 15th in the Last Chance Showdown on Saturday.

“I feel like we raced decent,” he said. “We have to qualify better. You can’t bury yourself in qualifying and expect to dig yourself out of a big hole like that.”

Baughman said his team has finished racing this season and will focus on 410ci winged sprint car action in 2018.

“There’s not one thing I can pinpoint for us to improve on that will have us contending for 410 wins,” he said. “We need to work on our whole program and we’re going to spend the offseason doing that.”
