Lonnie Wheatley, KNOXVILLE, Iowa (September 5, 2019) – Josh Baughman and the Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports No. 17 Sprint Car team are set for a weekend of All Star Circuit of Champions competition in Pennsylvania following a stellar weekend in Minnesota at the Jackson Motorplex 360 Nationals.
This weekend’s set of events commences at Bedford Speedway on Thursday night before shifting to the $52,000-to-win Tuscarora 50 at Port Royal Speedway on Friday and Saturday.
“We’ve been top ten at Bedford, then Port Royal can be really tricky. It gets slick but it still carries good speed,” Baughman commented.
Baughman takes momentum into the weekend after racing to victory lane at the Jackson Motorplex on Friday night and following that up with podium runs of second on Saturday and then third in the Sunday night finale of Jackson’s 360 Nationals.
“That’s a place that we have always done pretty well at and we just had such a good car all weekend, it was nice to capitalize on that with good finishes every night,” Baughman says.
After timing in sixth among the field of 47 in Friday’s 360 Nationals opener, Baughman raced to second-place heat race finish to earn the front row outside starting position for the feature. From there, he led the entire way in the 25-lap main event to post the win.
I’m tired,” he said in victory lane. “I’ve led a lot of laps here and could never pull it off. This means a lot. The curb got really big at the end. I’m glad we didn’t give that one away.”
Baughman timed in better at second-quickest on Saturday night and then posted a third-place heat race run before climbing from fifth to capture runner-up honors in the feature event.
After finishing second in Sunday night’s Dash to earn the front row outside starting position for the weekend’s 30-lap finale, Baughman finished it in strong form with a third-place podium finish.
Back to the 410-ci ranks this weekend, Baughman looks to keep the momentum rolling.
Next Up: All Star Circuit of Champions at Bedford (PA) Speedway on Thursday and Port Royal (PA) Speedway on Friday and Saturday.
